Spathacalymene nasuta Trilobite Age:
Silurian
Size: The trilobite is 1” in length
Fossil Location: Osgood Shale, Jefferson County, Indiana
Comments: Spathacalymene nasuta is named after the spatula because
of the extended glabella, which may have been used, for scooping up
food. This is an excellent fully 3D example of this unusual looking
trilobite. Spathacalymene nasuta are a recently available trilobite.
The first ones were extremely expensive and rare. Luckily for collectors,
though these are still uncommon, prices have moderated substantially.
